Small business Saturday

MANSFIELD -- Richland Area Chamber & Economic Development president and CEO Jodie Perry wants to remind local shoppers to remember local small businesses this holiday season.

Small Business Saturday takes place on Nov. 28. Over 50 prizes will be awarded and this year a no-contact program is in place for 2020 – click here to find out more.

This is a great opportunity to support our small business, especially during a challenging year.

The Small Business of the Year Awards is now a virtual event coming that will be presented from DRM studios on Dec. 16 from noon to 1 p.m.

The Chamber hopes the community will join in watching the event live on its Facebook page. No registration is necessary for the viewing audience.

"The Chamber Foundation is excited to announce our new leadership development program, The Learning Lab," Perry said. "You won’t want to miss our monthly virtual development opportunities for you and your organization.

"Thanksgiving is likely looking different for most of us this year. I know it sure is for me. It was a little sad at first not to be able to see my family, but I shook that off and have decided to embrace a one-time (hopefully!) quieter holiday," Perry said. "I'm cooking a Thanksgiving dinner for only the second time ever, and then have some plans to do nothing. Of course, I'll be out to support our small businesses on Saturday.

"We're all in the same boat - things are going to be different. I hope that no matter what your weekend holds, you have a chance to reflect on some of the good things in your life. We have all focused much on the difficulties - sparing a day to give thanks for what we DO have is helpful too."
